The Little Mermaid... the Broadway Musical!

I kept forgetting to post this on here. I had more planned related to this, but lost the motivation.

from my dA description:

Mmm the color always ruins it.

I went to New York this past weekend and saw some plays and musicals; one being The Little Mermaid musical. While I loved the actual musical (well, the music/singing, and acting), the costumes and props were so freaking cheesy! Underwater, all the actors had those shoe-skate things on to have a gliding effect. However, to have that gliding effect, they all had to run a little then do the skating with one foot angled up like this and it always poked out of their skirts. It was a bit weird.

Which brings me to their legs. And tail. They had both. The tail was created with wires so it would sway when they moved their bottoms. It looked kinda cool when you couldn't see their legs (behind a plastic wave or rock), but that didn't happen very often XD

This was my entire weekend.

I apologize for the shitty "editing" with Windows Movie Maker... only program I have on here :/ My flash stuff was rendered as a .mov file so obviously they won't work in WMM and I refuse to put any of my animation online without my name on it somewhere. I don't trust people, even if it's a shitty animation test. Gah. I'll put them on here eventually.

For some reason the last bit of frames are missing on both movies... I don't know if that's YouTube or WMM (I'm betting WMM), but yeah... there is more to both movies, but not much.

I think I took too much liberty and Darlene will probably hate them... not to mention the flying or something. I don't care, I was only given a weekend to do this basically.

We had to design a level, and just for kicks I put myself (as Eowen lol) in there since I have no patience with backgrounds.... you can see from the scribble. Alex finished shading it for me while I was working on sounds for THE BATTLE SEQUENCE RAWR. hahaha. BUT HEY! I got a free .hack OST for doing this stuff! (and buttons, and posters, and a -very large- shirt!)

Completely unintended. I'll....do those weekly challenges and all the crap for altimitcorp eventually -_-; This happened when trying to make something for altimit corp lol.

I hope this shows up for people....like...you can see it. I think my monitor is brighter than most. ummmmmmm I really don't have patience to color/paint, and I know I'm bad at it... not sure why I keep trying.

Eh I seriously wouldn't be doing all this .hack related stuff if it wasn't for altimitcorp... I just want free stuff >_> Anyway this is a lucky animal I made up that could fit into the game. I used the same style and I think it fits pretty well. I was gonna model it, but I don't have time before SIGGRAPH (WHICH BTW HOLY CRAP FREAKING OUT).

Just felt like drawing "me" when I was making a card for myself at Altimit...for that card game I can't remember the name of in .hack//GU. Well that's how it started, then I figured I'd finish the portrait. I totally suck at costume design D: I've also realized that my drawings of people are always so boring.... and I've figured out why---- I draw the poses subconsciously from Life Drawing DDD: Goddamnit.

And because I'm short on time, I'll probably submit this for the Love Connection quest at altimit as well XD Poor Haseo. Don't think he'd like a cat girl.

The background was NOT done by me. It is official art of the Forest of Pain in .hack//GU.

I really just wanted to post some vector backgrounds I made based on a background in GU~ I kept the colors as the original, but they can be changed easily if anyone wants. Enjoy.

Another mission submission for altimitcorp.com's site. Not too detailed, but they wanted the major stuff, plus .hack stuff, plus what I'll be doing in 5 years. I don't really have a set style so apparently I switched styles on every pic? I thought it was kinda cute at least... It was fun doodling.

The black dots leading to each picture are AIDA dots from .hack//GU. The background is an official .hack background for Altimit MINE OS, just photoshop-ilized by me.

Tsukasa and Haseo characters belong to dot hack.

Ok, so I've been having this major artist's block going on for like... a month and a half. I have to catch up to weekly challenge soon!

Which, btw, here's an old weekly challenge I never posted on here:

I actually kinda hate it. Because of the painting. This sketch was awesome until I ruined it. I'm going to take it easy on the painting crap from now on I think.

But yeah, today I finally went back to drawing. Once I warmed up a little, I got back into my groove. My thing now is drawing with pen in my sketchbook to see if I can stop being so depended on tools to correct my drawing errors (aka the eraser on paper, aka the move, resize, cut/paste options on the computer). Ahhh 'tis a hard thing for me, but I think I can do it. Plus I like the texture of the paper in the sketch once I scan it in.

Here's today's quicky sketches:

This is my dog Chase (aka The Golden Sled Chow). I drew him mostly, but this is the only one I liked (plus the rest he moved before I finished). This one could have gone on, but I had another sketch in the way :/ Hahah and I don't like the coloring, of course. I'm too impatient with it I guess.

Kristeva from my new obsession, Ergo Proxy. The only reason I drew her was because I was tired of drawing the dogs and she was easy to remember how to draw. Didn't bother to color.

Vincent from Ergo Proxy. He's cute! I had to fix an error in my drawing with the computer, but other than that, I didn't do too bad with the pen.

No desire to draw :(

Eh...I threw together my images of my fake!Incredibles character. I still mean to do an expression sheet for her too... but yeah here it is.

I also uploaded all my animations from Artificial Characters to http://stage6.divx.com/user/kait1114/videos/ ....which apparently since the site is so new, no student animator has found it yet. I'm the only who has tagged a video with "walk cycle"! And since people aren't used to seeing student animation assignments on there, I can only assume that's why I have "thumbs down" ratings on all of them T_T The embedding feature doesn't seem to want to work on here at the moment for some reason so you'll have to go there. >_>

I'm having so much trouble with my model for school still ; ; I think it's the bones I make or something... they're all oriented correctly from what I see... Anyway... this is a result from my breaks from Maya.

...it didn't work XD It became messier and messier the more I worked on it. It was also light so I had to put a color overlay on it, and moved my lines above the color because it just wasn't working without the lines. I don't know how people paint without showing their line work! Must learn!

I really have no excuse for this. My brother saw me drawing this and laughed at me. Uh... pose is from a reference :P

I'm going by our Stop Staring book, so I'm about to work on building the nose next. I spent an unnecessarily long time fighting with the insert isoparms command with the NURBS (it worked randomly; yay Maya!), and finally just gave up and converted to polys early. Really.... NURBS are spiffy and all, but I still think there's things that need to be worked out with them since you can't really use them except when modeling>convert to polys :/ They're still sorta "new" anyway...

It's late, and the X-ray option has gone out control, signifying Maya is on the verge of a melt-down, I guess that'll be it for tonight.

Phuc and Jennifer's Engagement

One of my best buddies just got engaged and her mom is throwing an Engagement party this weekend. I have no clue if I'm supposed to get them a gift- their wedding is going to be in 2 more years, plus it just seems a little odd to get them something now if I also get gifts for the bridal shower wedding... Hmmm...

So, I figured I could maybe make something for them. I'm going to attempt to paint this computer sketch for them and have Kinko's print out pretty to frame? Painting on the computer from a reference should hopefully be manageable for me. If all else fails, I'll print this out and trace onto some nicer paper and do a charcoal piece. I'm more of a graphite/charcoal person who loves to shade anyway. Too bad I can't emulate that with a tablet (hence this crappy sketch lol). I probably can if I change nibs but I'm terrified I'll ruin the pen if I try to switch!

Enough rambling!

Oh, and I did do some "people stalking" for Weekly Challenge, but cannot scan it atm :/
